Award-winning writer, Jeannie van Rompaey has an MA in Modern Literature from the University of Leicester and a Certificate in Speech and Drama from The Rose Bruford College, Sidcup, Kent. She is a trained teacher and has had a varied career as lecturer, theatre-director, actress and performance poet.
As Jeannie Russell, she is a senior member of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators and adjudicates at drama festivals in Britain and Europe.
Originally from England, she now lives in Gran Canaria with historian husband, Tony, and spends her time writing novels, short stories, plays and poems. Both Jeannie and Tony paint and have had several art exhibitions on the island. For examples of our paintings please see the art gallery. Jeannie has one daughter, Anieka Russell, who is currently based in London.
Jeannie writes and paints about subjects she feels passionately about - the power of creativity, the complexity of relationships and the possibility of the supernatural.
